Details & Usage
How to use
Create a new lawn or fill in a bare patch
1. Rake
- Rake the area to remove weeds, stones and dead grass.
- If overseeding your existing lawn, mow the grass short first.
- Turn the soil over to a depth of approximately 15-22cm.
- For best results, lightly dress the area, level it and firm the soil before sowing.
2. Shake
- Shake the carton to remix the seed.
- Apply 30g per square metre for new lawns or bare patches.
- Sow half the seed from left to right and the remainder from top to bottom to create an even criss-cross pattern.
- Gently rake in, then tread or roll the seed into the soil.
3. Water
- Unless it rains, soak the area using a fine spray and keep the soil moist for the following weeks.
- Trim the grass once it reaches approximately 5-8cm.
- Gradually lower the mower height until the grass is around 2.5cm.
- Never remove more than one-third of the growth at one time.
- Begin feeding the lawn after approximately 12 weeks.
How to overseed an existing lawn
- Mow the lawn short and rake out dead grass, moss and debris.
- Apply a suitable lawn dressing if required.
- In dry conditions, moisten the lawn before sowing.
- Apply approximately 25g per square metre.
- Lightly rake the seed into the lawn.
- Unless it rains, water with a fine spray and keep the soil moist for the next few weeks.

Further information
Do I need to add fertiliser?
There is often enough residual fertility in the soil to support young grass plants. Avoid strong fertilisers, weedkillers and moss killers for around 24 weeks after sowing.
Can I use a lawn spreader?
Yes. A suitable lawn spreader can be used to distribute the seed evenly.
When can I expect shoots?
In ideal moist conditions, grass can begin to appear in approximately 7-10 days. In less favourable conditions allow around 10-14 days, with cooler soils taking longer.
How long can grass seed be stored?
For best results, use new-season seed where possible. When stored in cool, dry conditions, seed can retain good viability for around 2 years before germination levels gradually decline.
When is the best time to sow?
Wait until frosts have passed and soil temperatures are warm enough for germination. The most favourable sowing period is generally March to September. Avoid very hot, dry conditions and periods of cold weather.
What is the coverage?
The 420g carton covers approximately 14m².
