Details & Usage

How to use

The Miracle-Gro® Drop Spreader creates a controlled strip of seed or granules directly beneath the spreader as you walk. The treatment strip is approximately 45cm (18in) wide.

Fill the hopper with the lawn seed or suitable granular lawn treatment.
Select the correct spreader setting for the product being applied.
Begin walking at a steady pace and squeeze the on/off grip handle to begin application.
Release the grip handle at the end of each strip to stop the flow before turning.
Continue up and down the lawn in parallel strips to achieve consistent coverage.

How to achieve an even application

When completing each strip, use the tyre marks from the previous pass as a guide.

Align the arrow on the hopper above the tyre marks from the previous strip before beginning the next pass. This helps maintain an even spacing between treatment strips and reduces the risk of gaps or excessive overlap.

Variable spreader settings

Different grass seeds and granular lawn care products require different application rates. Adjust the spreader setting according to the specific product being used.

Always check the recommended spreader setting and application rate before beginning treatment.

Where to use

Designed primarily for medium-sized lawn areas, while also being suitable for smaller and larger domestic lawns where a precise drop-style application is preferred.

Suitable for use with compatible granular lawn seed and lawn care products.

Recommended walking speed

For consistent application, the recommended walking speed is approximately 8.3 metres every 10 seconds.

Try to maintain a steady walking pace throughout the entire application to help achieve an even distribution.

Spreader settings

The correct setting will depend on the seed, lawn food or granular lawn treatment being used.

Refer to the product instructions or Miracle-Gro® spreader settings guidance before application.

Cleaning and maintenance

After use, pour any remaining product back into its original packaging.

Wash the spreader thoroughly over the lawn to remove any seed, feed or treatment residue, paying particular attention to material that may collect around the axle.

Hot water may be required to remove stubborn residue.

Allow the spreader to dry fully before storage.

Regularly lubricate the axle bushings with a light spray lubricant. Avoid using heavy oils or grease because these may attract dirt and debris and contribute to premature wear.

Cautions

Always follow the application instructions for the lawn care product or grass seed being used.
Select the correct spreader setting before application.
Maintain a steady walking speed to help ensure even coverage.
Return unused product to its original packaging after use.
Clean and thoroughly dry the spreader before storage.
